Membuat mailserver dengan Merak Mail Server

Perusahaan di tempat aku menjadi konsultan Linux Engineer di India (IKON Ltd) baru saja membeli software Mail Server dengan produk Windows dan Linux. Software ini adalah Merak Mailserver yang sangat tangguh dan oke punya. Untuk Merak Mailserver versi Windows diinstall oleh staff nya di India. Sementara untuk yang Merak Mailserver versi Linux diserahkan ke saya untuk menginstall di salah satu servernya di Data Centre Calpop. Proses installnya dengan remote dari Jakarta. Server untuk Merak ini merupakan server ke 11 yang aku pegang sebagai Linux konsultannya. Merak mailserver yang dibeli merupakan IceWarp Professional Suite dengan komponen didalamnya Mailserver, WebMail, Anti-Spam Module, Anti-Virus Module, Web Server Module, Migration Tool. Ini software sudah mahal memang canggih dibanding software-software gratisan lainnya dengan Linux Based. Merak tidak hanya software untuk email system tetapi juga untuk business communications platform.

Berikut proses instalasi dan konfigurasi Merak Mailserver versi Linux :

Sistem operasi menggunakan Linux CentOS 5.2 :

Saya edit dahulu file install.sh untuk menyesuaikan path : /sbin/service dan /sbin/chkconfig

Kemudian memulai instalasi :

(Icewarp), which governs your use of the IceWarp Merak Mail Server or any of its
components selected by you on the Component License Sheet. By using
IceWarp Merak Mail Server, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions
of this Software Licence Agreement. You are not allowed to use
IceWarp Merak Mail Server without agreeing to the terms and conditions hereof.

This Software Licence Agreement is for the full version of IceWarp Merak Mail Server and
provides you also a right to access without additional payment all released
updates/upgrades of the IceWarp Merak Mail Server for a period of one year. You can
prolong this period for additional year(s) against payment of annual maintenance fee.
Icewarp reserves the right to license, on the basis of a modified or entirely new licence
agreements, any future or other versions of IceWarp Merak Mail Server.

You may use this product only under a single operating system. For the avoidance
of doubt, you need a separate EULA per each and every operating system of each
and every CPU on which the IceWarp Merak Mail Server is installed.

You acquire no right to distribute the IceWarp Merak Mail Server and no right to copy the
product and/or any associated product documentation unless agreed with Icewarp Ltd.
in writing.

You agree not to decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the IceWarp Merak Mail Server.

You acknowledge that you obtain no ownership rights to the IceWarp Merak Mail Server under
the terms of this Software License Agreement. All rights in the product including
but not limited to trade secrets, trademarks, service marks, patents and copyrights
are, shall be and will remain the property of Icewarp Limited or any third party
contributor from whom Icewarp has licensed software or technology.

You may not remove any proprietary notices, labels, trademarks on the Merak Mail
Server product or documentation.

Upon installation, the program will send an informative email to our server.
The information contained in this email is strictly confidential and is used for no
other purpose than to aggregate installation statistics.

THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED BY THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS
AND CONTRIBUTORS”AS IS” AND ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED
WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE DISCLAIMED. TO THE MAXIMUM

Untuk administrasi melalui linuxnya :
Starting Merak server and/or services:
[linux]# ./merakd—start
Start merakd and automatically starts all services, except PHP, which
is started when first HTTP request arrives.
[linux]# ./merakd—start control|gw|im|pop3|smtp|all
Start selected service or all services. This command will not start merakd if it is not already running. If control
was started, it will start PHP on first HTTP request.
Stopping Merak server and/or services:
[linux]# ./merakd—stop
Stops all running services, stops merakd and also PHP. This is command for complete shutdown of Merak
server.
[linux]# ./merakd—stop control|gw|im|pop3|smtp|all
Stops selected service or all services. This command will cause to stop PHP together with control and will not
stop merakd.

Selesai. Ternyata semakin mahal softwarenya, semakin cepat pula instalasinya….
